Caption

From the Tasman District Council Archives. Donated by Don McFarlane in 1984.

This picture shows Warring's Garage and Service Station at 231-235 Queen Street, Richmond.

A sign advertising Shell can be seen at the top right of the photo. There is a large sign advertising Vacuum Plume Oil above one of the buildings and the petrol pump bowsers also have advertising for Vacuum Plume Oil on their sides and on the globe at the top of the bowser.

There are two cars on the road in front of the service station. They both have ribbons decorating their front bonnets. One has ribbons decorating the door handles as well. This would indicate that it was a special event. A woman stands in the background watching.

Date of the photograph is unknown. Possibly 1920s.
